Stacking The Shelves (13): April 2016

Stacking The Shelves is all about sharing the books you are adding to your shelves, may it be physical or virtual. This means you can include books you buy in physical store or online, books you borrow from friends or the library, review books, gifts and of course ebooks! Hosted by Tynga's Reviews.

April has been a busy month for me and my personal life. That is why I haven't blogged as much as I used to like the past two months. I also haven't bought any book this month. But thankfully, Harper Collins sent me three ARCs that I can feature in this month's Stacking the Shelves post. Thank you, HC Int'l!

Stacking The Shelves (12): March 2016

Stacking The Shelves is all about sharing the books you are adding to your shelves, may it be physical or virtual. This means you can include books you buy in physical store or online, books you borrow from friends or the library, review books, gifts and of course ebooks! Hosted by Tynga's Reviews.

This March, I feel like I have purchased quite a number of books, even though I know it's not a lot compared to some people's monthly book hauls. It has been a long time since I bought more than two books in one month. The cause of this impulsive book buying is the extremely low price of some great hardback titles in the bookstore. Honestly, I only wanted to get Lady Midnight because that was the only book I really saved up for. But the other books were so tempting, and when I looked at the prices, I know I just had to grab them and go (after paying, of course).

Now, my March haul...

COVER CRAZY: A Few Weeks Worth of Book Covers Revealed + Some Bookish Updates

For the past few weeks, a lot of authors and publishers (through bloggers and other websites) have been revealing some teasers and covers for some of the most anticipated books to be published and released this 2016. And every time a cover reveal pops up somewhere on the internet, I immediately want to blog about it. But then comes another one, and another, until I don't know how to manage the supposed cover reveal blog post anymore.

Now, I decided to just put it all out there in one blog post. So, for the past weeks (or months), these are the book cover reveal, bookish news and updates that I have come across on social media sites.

WOW (5): Walk the Edge by Katie McGarry

Waiting On Wednesday (WOW) is a weekly event or bookish meme, hosted by Jill of Breaking the Spine, that spotlights upcoming releases that readers and bloggers are eagerly anticipating and patiently waiting for.

This week, I am "waiting on" Walk the Edge by Katie McGarry, which is the second book of the Thunder Road series. I have been wanting to read this book since I finished reading Nowhere But Here last year. After finishing the first book, I immediately wanted more. Since the second book is not out yet, I kind of binge read Katie McGarry's Pushing the Limits series instead (which is also a great series).

WOW (4): It Ends With Us by Colleen Hoover

Waiting On Wednesday (WOW) is a weekly event or bookish meme, hosted by Jill of Breaking the Spine, that spotlights upcoming releases that readers and bloggers are eagerly anticipating and patiently waiting for.

A few days ago, Colleen Hoover revealed the cover of her upcoming book, It Ends With Us. Honestly, I totally forgot that she will be releasing a new book this year. This has been on my TBR since I don't know when, and I am super excited for another CoHo book, but with all the wonderful releases this year, you just can't keep track of everything all the time.

WOW (3): Lady Midnight by Cassandra Clare

Waiting On Wednesday (WOW) is a weekly event or bookish meme, hosted by Jill of Breaking the Spine, that spotlights upcoming releases that readers and bloggers are eagerly anticipating and patiently waiting for.

This week's WOW book is... Lady Midnight. I have seen this book being featured on a lot of blogs lately, and I am so jealous of the people who received their ARCs weeks (even months) before the release of the book. I know. I know. It's been receiving a lot of hype, and it's likely that a lot of people will not read Cassandra Clare's new book because they think she's just milking out her Shadowhunters stories for cash. But to be honest, I don't really care if it's for money or whatever. As long as it's a good book, I'll read it. And I saw Alexandra from Goodreads post a review that fueled my excitement for the release of Lady Midnight.
"Saying LADY MIDNIGHT is an emotional roller coaster ride is an understatement. I'm shell-shocked by Cassandra Clare's improvement in writing, world building, character development, EVERYTHING."

Hello beautiful people of the blogoverse! This is my first Stacking the Shelves post this year. To be honest, I have not purchased any books since the year began because I have no money to spend on impulsive book shopping extravaganza. I am saving the little cash I have with me for something big. Hopefully, I'll be able to share that soon.

So, let's get on with it. Here is my February book haul...

WOW (2): Adulthood is a Myth, A Sarah's Scribbles Collection by Sarah Andersen

Waiting On Wednesday (WOW) is a weekly event or bookish meme, hosted by Jill of Breaking the Spine, that spotlights upcoming releases that readers and bloggers are eagerly anticipating and patiently waiting for.

This week, I am so pleased to share a book that I have been wanting to read since the moment I knew there was book about it. It is a collection of short sketches or scribbles (comic-style) by Sarah Andersen about the true to life accounts of awkward situations we often get ourselves stuck in.

WOW (1): A Study in Charlotte by Brittany Cavallaro

Waiting On Wednesday (WOW) is a weekly event or bookish meme, hosted by Jill of Breaking the Spine, that spotlights upcoming releases that readers and bloggers are eagerly anticipating and patiently waiting for.

The book that I am "Waiting on" this week is actually a book that I just seen a couple of hours before typing this post. I was on twitter, somebody shared an article about the most anticipated books to be released on March, and the thumbnail was a picture of the cover this book. It spoke to me, and I clicked it. Then, I read the blurb, and I knew immediately that I had to read it. The rest is history.

Hello!

Welcome to my Stacking the Shelves post, the Extended Edition! Why "extended", you ask? Well, because I realized that it has been 364 days since I last shared my weekly/monthly book haul. I missed a lot of times to share the new books I bought and received. So now, I am sharing all the books I got from November 2014 to March 2015 (I did not get anything this April, Sad.).

Here they are...

Feature & Follow Friday (17)

Feature and Follow Friday is a weekly meme
hosted by Parajunkee and Alison Can Read!

Hello there!!!
I am teepee, and this is my blog, Little Librocubicularist. This blog (and I) is so fortunate to have been chosen as one of the featured blogs this week. Thank you Parajunkee and Alison Can Read!

Interview Questions:

1. When did you start blogging?

I officially started blogging January last year. But the blogger account has been around since March 2011. It was just a requirement for a school subject we had back then. Then, I discovered book blogging and wanted to try it out. I reconstructed the blog on October 2012 and posted a some random book reviews from Goodreads. I realized how awful and disorganized the blog looks back then, so I remodeled it again. At the start of 2013, Little Librocubicularist has been officially born.

2. What is your favorite part of book blogging?

Getting and reading books, and people actually liking what I had written. I feel relieved and glad whenever someone comments on one of my reviews, or even give them likes on Goodreads, It's like an assurance that what I'm doing is okay (if not good), and I can continue doing it.

3. What type of books do you mainly blog about?

The blog is dedicated mostly to Young Adult books, and a few selected New Adult books as well. I read all genres of YA except horror, so expect a a diverse selection of books. But lately, I've been having a Contemporary fixation.

4. What are your favorite books?

Can we skip this question? It's so hard.

Okay, here are some of my favorite books

Jellicoe Road by Melina Marchetta is one of my favorite books. It has been one of the few books that has left me speechless after reading. Also, Clockwork Angel by Cassandra Clare (I have not read Clockwork Princess yet) and My Life Next Door by Huntley Fitzpatrick. Flat-Out Love by Jessica Park has recently been added to my favorites list. There are a few more but I can't seem to remember... I feel bad for those who have not been mentioned.

5. What has been the best thing that has happened to you because of book blogging?

To be honest, getting books from authors or publishers is by far the most squeal-worthy moment I've ever experienced. It is number one on my list. And not far from the top spot is the part where authors actually acknowledge the things you said about their books. If getting books is squeal-worthy, this experience just blows my mind away.

Feature & Follow Friday (16)

Feature and Follow Friday is a weekly meme
hosted by Parajunkee and Alison Can Read!

Activity/Question:
How important is good writing to you? In an ideal world, a book would be beautifully written AND have great character development, plot, etc. But in the real world, which do you prefer: (1) Great characters and plot with lousy writing or (2) Middling character development and plot but gorgeous writing.

**********

In a scale of 1 to 10, with 10 being "extremely important", I suppose it's around 5 or 6.

YES, I have.

Activity/Question:
Have you met a favorite author and have a picture? Share.

**********
How I wish I could answer this question with a very big YES. But sadly, I have not met any author yet. If you count school textbook authors, then my answer will be "yes". YA authors or any fiction author, NO.

Since I only buy zero to one book per week, I have decided to do my "Stacking the Shelves" post once a month only - every last Saturday of each month. My January post was supposed to be last Saturday, January 25, but my monthly haul was not complete at that time. I was still expecting a few books, so I decided to wait until today.

Activity/Question:
Resolutions: Put together your blogger resolution list for all of us to see!

**********

Ah, resolutions... I have been avoiding that word from the moment the new year countdown began. It's not that I don't have any resolutions, because I do have some. But they are just similar to the other bloggers' resolution, so why post them again?

Anyway, going back to the question... The blogger resolution list I made on January 1st was a little vague. Maybe it's not even a resolution list, but more of "what I want to accomplish" list. Just click HERE if you want to see that post.

There are also a few things I want to add...

** I will reduce the unread books on my book case.

** I will have more meaningful posts on the blog aside from "Feature and Follow", "Stacking the Shelves", book reviews, cover reveals, etc... I'm going to try out discussion posts.

** I will interact more with people in the blogosphere.

** I will improve my writing skills and write more substantial reviews.

** School and studies first before YA books.
(Yes, I promised myself that this year, I will not be distracted by these gorgeous books anymore. I will have self-control. I will improve my grades and graduate college with flying colors.)

Year-End Blogger Accomplishment and Appreciation Report

Hello blog followers and readers! First and foremost, I would like to thank each and every one of you for sticking up with my little blog baby for the past year. This has been one crazy year for me, both in my bookish life and my personal life. There had been a lot of ups and downs, but I managed to make it to the end of the year. Hurray!!!

One of the most significant part of 2013 for me was finally having the courage to officially start a book blog. I have been wanting to put up a blog since the moment I knew book blogs existed, but I just had a lot of doubts with myself and you know, the usual "I don't know if I can do it" thoughts. I tried to overcome them, note: tried. Even though I have already been blogging, I'm still doubtful.

Anyway, what happened this 2013?
