BOOK BLURB: Across a Star-Swept Sea (For Darkness Shows the Stars #2)

Publisher: Balzer + Bray
Number of Pages: 464
Date Published: October 15, 2013
Genre:Young Adult Science Fiction, Dystopia

Goodreads:

Centuries after wars nearly destroyed civilization, the two islands of New Pacifica stand alone, a terraformed paradise where even the Reduction—the devastating brain disorder that sparked the wars—is a distant memory. Yet on the isle of Galatea, an uprising against the ruling aristocrats has turned deadly. The revolutionaries’ weapon is a drug that damages their enemies’ brains, and the only hope is rescue by a mysterious spy known as the Wild Poppy.

On the neighboring island of Albion, no one suspects that the Wild Poppy is actually famously frivolous aristocrat Persis Blake. The teenager uses her shallow, socialite trappings to hide her true purpose: her gossipy flutternotes are encrypted plans, her pampered sea mink is genetically engineered for spying, and her well-publicized new romance with handsome Galatean medic Justen Helo… is her most dangerous mission ever.

Though Persis is falling for Justen, she can’t risk showing him her true self, especially once she learns he’s hiding far more than simply his disenchantment with his country’s revolution and his undeniable attraction to the silly socialite he’s pretending to love. His darkest secret could plunge both islands into a new dark age, and Persis realizes that when it comes to Justen Helo, she’s not only risking her heart, she’s risking the world she’s sworn to protect.

Then she stumbles upon a warehouse party where she meets Vicky, a girl in a band who accepts her; Char, a cute, yet mysterious disc jockey; Pippa, a carefree spirit from England; and most importantly, a love for DJing.

Stacking The Shelves (4)

Stacking The Shelves is all about sharing the books you are adding to your shelves, may it be physical or virtual. This means you can include books you buy in physical store or online, books you borrow from friends or the library, review books, gifts and of course ebooks! Hosted by Tynga's Reviews.

*******

On my fourth Stacking the Shelves post, I will be showcasing not only the books I received or purchased for this week, but also the books I have gotten from the past months that I still haven't posted. Don't expect too much, because I haven't really been buying a lot of books the time I was temporarily away. I wanted to, but certain circumstances don't allow me. Anyway, moving on to the books...

Here are the new additions to my shelf!

COVER CRAZY: The One (The Selection #3)

35 GIRLS. 1 CROWN. THE COMPETITION OF A LIFETIME.
35 GIRLS CAME TO THE PALACE. ONLY 6 REMAIN.
ONLY 1 GIRL CAN WIN THE CROWN.

Who wouldn't be captivated by those striking catch phrases? I'm sure I would. But whenever I hear The Selection or Kiera Cass, what comes to my mind immediately are those gorgeous book covers of her The Selection Trilogy. If you haven't seen it yet, you should look it up and prepared to be blown away. And just recently, Kiera Cass has revealed the cover of the third and final book of the trilogy, THE ONE.

Of course, that got me excited. I'm really raising my expectations over the bar for this cover, and thankfully, it did not disappoint me. It is GORGEOUS, BEAUTIFUL and every other adjective you can describe for something as stunning as this one. I didn't expect it to be white, but holy moly! This white cover is magnificent! (If you haven't noticed, the adjective I'm using were just googled because I can't even begin hoe to describe how good this cover looks like.)

I haven't found any blurbs yet for the third book's plot so that's why it's not here. And to be honest, Ihave only read the first book in the series. I still don't have a copy of The Elite (the second book) because it's not my priority right now. Maybe next time.
  DROOOOOL!!!! Pretty Dresssssss!

Feature & Follow Friday (9)

THIS WEEK'S ACTIVITY:
Reading Nook Tour: Give us a tour of your favorite reading spots.

**********

My blog title says it all: LIBROCUBICULARIST, a noun pertaining to a person who reads in bed. MY BED, it is the one and only spot I feel very comfortable when reading books. Any other place is okay, but nothing can compare to my bed.
That was my room before we moved to a new place a few months ago. I still have the same bed and the same things, but the place is a little different. And I still love to read in bed.
(I chose this photo because my room looks clean here. Hahahahaha! And by bed is neatly fixed. Yay me!)

COVER CRAZY: Several Crazy YA

If you haven't noticed, I have been gone for quite some time, and I haven't really had the chance (and resources) of scouring the world wide web for book updates like cover reveals, new releases etc... So now, I'll try to catch up with what's happening and finally be able to at least get a little in line with every one out there.

Now, to start things off, I just want to say something... This blog post is entirely dedicated to those upcoming books I have been on my TBR list that unfortunately, I haven't been able to check up on for the past few months. And just by random chance, when I looked into my goodreads account, I saw that they have already covers. How amazingly bitter-sweet was that.

This cover reveal may be a few weeks or a few months late, but I don't care. I have the right to fangirl, too! :)
