Goodreads:
Teresa Hamilton is having a rough year—she’s in love with her big brother’s best friend, but he hasn’t spoken to her since they shared a truly amazing, mind-blowing, change-your-life kiss. She got out of a terrible relationship. And now an injury is threatening to end her dance career for good. It’s time for Plan B – college. And maybe a chance to convince Jase that what they have together is real.
Jase Winstead has a huge secret that he’s not telling anyone. Especially not his best friend’s incredibly beautiful sister. Even though he and Teresa shared the hottest kiss of his life, he knows that his responsibilities must take priority. He certainly doesn’t have time for a relationship. But it doesn’t help that all he can think about kissing the one girl who could ruin everything for him.
As they’re thrown together more and more, Jase and Tess can’t keep denying their feelings for each other. But a familiar danger looms and tragedy strikes. As the campus recovers, the star-crossed couple must decide what they’re willing to risk to be together, and what they’re willing to lose if they’re not…

My Thoughts:
Be with Me was not the book I was expecting it to be. It’s a little different from Wait for You (the first book in the series) in a sense that it was less light and it just had a whole different feel as opposed to reading book one.
What I really liked about the Wait for You was the general mood of the story; how it was able to bring characters with a bit of dark past and tell a sweet, fun and heartwarming story. It has a lighter mood than all the typical New Adult books, and the heaviness of the characters’ secrets did not overpower the cute romance going on between Cam and Avery. In short, it was a well-balanced story that will make you swoon and have you gripped to the book the whole time.
Now withBe with Me, I was expecting something similar, if not lighter and a little closer to YA, since this is the story if Cam’s younger sister, Teresa, and her massive crush on her brother’s best friend, Jase. But it wasn’t. It was more intense, the characters are more jagged and undecided, it was a little more serious, and a bit more complicated than the first book. It was not just because of the plot, but because of the characters as well.
The story and the characters were not that appealing to me. It was okay, but having Wait for You as the basis of comparison makes it a disadvantage of Be with Me. What threw me off the edge and had my teeth gritting was how desperate and clingy Teresa seemed in the story, and how Jase can be such a douchebag most of the time. I was not just expecting that after reading Wait for You. These characters are like the opposite of Cam and Avery. Also, the steamy scenes are not subdued in Be with Me. But atleast there were cupcakes. Yes, people! If Cam had cookies, Jase also has his secret weapon - cupcakes!
The story, on the other hand, was okay for the most part. The character’s secrets, although I have been able to guess some, have made the story better and interesting. Even the confusing relationship of Jase and Teresa has ended well. There were even parts of the book that had me totally creeped out and shivers run down my spine. That was definitely unexpected. So, thumbs up for that.
Being a fan of J. Lynn doesn’t mean I have to love all the things she has written. Be with Me still has that unique J. Lynn feel to it – intense, romantic, steamy – which fans will surely love and keep coming back to. The writing was as good as ever as it was easy to read and well-paced. Maybe the problem was just my personal preference and my views.
